The operational team of Rendocan participated in a masterclass on supercritical CO2 extraction, hosted by the UCLL in Leuven.
Supercritical CO2 is a fluid state in which carbon dioxide has the diffusitivity of a gas and the density of a fluid. Adjustments in pressure and/or temperature changes the solubility power of the supercritical CO2. This makes the supercritical CO2 appropriate for extracting a broad range of high value components.
Supercritical CO2 is currently being used as a non-solvent, green and clean extraction technology for the extraction of a diverse set of natural compounds. In the cannabis industry, supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) is being used to extract the phytocomplex from the cannabisplant. By adjusting pressures and temperatures, specific active compounds can be targeted to be extracted from the botanical material.
Rendocan was present to explore the lasted technology and scientific developments in this field.
